Hiking Trails of the Smokies
A guide published by the great smoky mountain associationHikersGuide.html

Great gift!

As the weather warms and the world gets her color back, take a vacation from the daily grind and spend a night or two exploring the Old Settlers Trail. This trail features more traces of the old Appalachian community than anywhere else in the park!

Trail Length: 15.8 miles. Some hills, some stream crossings.

How to Get There: Take US 3215.9 miles East of Gatlinburg.  Turn onto Greenbriar Road at Park entrance sign, go past the ranger station. Turn at road leading across the bridge to Ramsey Cascades trailhead, cross two bridges, and the Old Settlers trailhead is on the left.

Thanks for supporting local business!

Fall Creek Falls - Fun for the whole family!

Did you know that Fall Creek Falls has the tallest waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains?  And it’s practically in our backyard! Less than two hours away from Knoxville, Fall Creek Falls is full of waterfalls (yes, there’s more than one!), nature, wildlife, playgrounds, and perfect spots for a picnic.

At the Falls you can take short trails to scenic overlooks or traverse longer, overnight trails. No matter where you go, though, beautiful hemlocks, rhododendrons, and yellow poplars mark the way. On the rocks around the falls are different layers of texture and color, the evidence of millions of years of transition from sandy dunes, to tidal plains and salt marshes.

Don’t feel like packing food for a trip?  There’s even a buffet at their conference center. The wilderness has never been more luxurious!

Above: One of the swinging bridge adventures you will enjoy at the Falls.
